9. Miles Plumlee

After a four-year career at Duke, Miles Plumlee embarked on an NBA career that took him to five different teams and eventually, across the world in the international hoops scene. That journey started after he was picked 26th overall in the 2012 NBA Draft by the Pacers.

As a rookie, the big man didn’t see the court very much with the Pacers. Instead, he spent the majority of his time in the D-League with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. Plumlee played in just 14 games with the NBA team, a total of just 55 minutes. He managed to impressively average more rebounds (1.6 per game) than points (0.9 per game) during his brief time with the club.

That’s all he got with the Pacers, too. During the offseason, he was dealt to the Phoenix Suns in an ill-fated deal for Luis Scola, which also sent Gerald Green and a second-round pick who eventually became Bogdan Bogdanovic to Phoenix. Scola spent two years in Indiana as a backup power forward and is now out of the NBA.

So is Miles Plumlee. He bounded around the Suns, Milwaukee Bucks, Charlotte Hornets, and Atlanta Hawks, most recently playing 18 games in Atlanta last season. He started this season in the Memphis Grizzlies organization before moving on to the CBA and then Perth Wildcats in the NBL, where Plumlee won his first title since the Duke Blue Devils cut down the NCAA Tournament nets in 2010.
