Due to their recent success, the Denver Nuggets find themselves in a unique situation this NBA Draft, where multiple draft strategies make sense. Anything from instant offense to risky foreign prospect or anything in between can be justified this draft.

With the Denver Nuggets‘ only current draft selection being the 23rd overall pick, there are a few different avenues the Nuggets can take while deciding on which prospect to select. It’s important to note who will be under contract next season while speculating on draft choices. Their 2020-21 roster will include Gary Harris, Nikola Jokic, Will Barton, Jerami Grant (player option), Jamal Murray, Michael Porter, Jr., Monte Morris, Vlatko Čančar, Keita Bates-Diop, and Bol Bol.

Looking at the returning group for Denver, they expect to bring back most of their major contributors besides Paul Millsap, Mason Plumlee, and Torrey Craig, and it’s still possible that they could be re-signed by the team. Assuming they aren’t re-signed, however, the Nuggets still retain their under-25 core, which accounts for most of the team’s scoring and playmaking. Plus Porter should be ready to step into a bigger role next season, and will likely take minutes from Craig at least, and possibly Millsap as well.

With that said, the Nuggets are in a situation where they can potentially take risks with this draft choice thanks in large part to their returning core. Here are four different archetypes of prospects I like for the Denver Nuggets in this draft, along with players that match that archetype.
