Sacramento Kings: Ranking the last 10 first round picks
By Corey Rausch
1. De’Aaron Fox (2017)
The easiest choice of this list comes at the top. With their first of three picks in the 2017 Draft, the Kings took the current face of the franchise De’Aaron Fox. So far for his career, the young guard has averaged 15.9 points, 6.1 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game.
He broke through this season as a scorer, averaging 20.4 points per game and taking a step forward as a leader. While his efficiency struggles to remain consistent, growing pains were to be expected with a new coach in a bigger role.
Even better, for once the Kings seem to have made the right choice of the players available. Sure, Donovan Mitchell and Bam Adebayo have already made All-Star games, but Fox is on that trajectory. His position is loaded, making accolades a little tougher to come by. The production is there and he seems to be a lock to make the team before long.
Fox’s growth as a player is the basis for the entire franchise at this point. Bagley and Fox growing together is integral, especially after they passed on a likely future MVP for Bagley. Fox is the real deal and there was never a doubt he was at the top of this list. Good for the Sacramento Kings, getting one pick out of 10 seemingly correct.
