The Philosopher

Rivers has lived by the philosophy “Unbuntu.” which means “I am because we are” or “I can’t be all I can be unless you can be all you can be.” Rivers’ philosophy will get them through this tough mental task.

Team success will be accomplished by great individual play from everybody on the roster. Times like these are when a team has to be together and Rivers will be able to get the players to buy into their system and win the games that they need to.

“There are going to be so many things that are thrown at us that we don’t know yet,” Rivers said. “It’s really going to be a mental toughness challenge.”

Players will get injured, losses will happen and more unforeseen things will occur. Everything will not go great. It will be up to everybody to be together to reach the common goal. Rivers will have to keep the team focused on its goal.

There will be distractions just like there always is during a season. Everybody always being readily available and basketball being the only focus is a coach’s dream. An intelligent coach like Rivers will be able to utilize what’s going on as an advantage.

The Clippers look destined for the Finals due to their coach. A great coach will put great players in great positions. Rivers has shown the ability to do that. He earns respect from his players with his competitiveness. Life in the bubble will be difficult. A coach that is mentally tough though will make it easy to get through it.
