A look back at the all-time five most underappreciated seasons in Boston Celtics franchise history that deserve more recognition and praise.

Countless NBA players have talked about the awe that they felt after first looking up at the array of championship banners and retired numbers high up in the Boston Celtics’ TD Garden.

It is a spectacle to see the multitude of retired jerseys from players that helped rack up title banners for the team. From Bill Russell in the early days of the NBA to Paul Pierce, Boston is filled with iconic stars that became beloved for their world-class play. These two along with dozens of others orchestrated multiple All-Star type seasons en route to leading the team to winning seasons and championship-winning campaigns.

However, some seasons in the team’s storied franchise history have become overlooked and even underrated. With a team rich with NBA MVP and All-NBA seasons, this is bound to happen and an aspect that few other teams in the league can relate to.

These five seasons are among those that have become underappreciated within the team’s history. Many of these come from Hall of Famers amid their prime days in the league. Each season in this list had a pivotal role in the Celtics’ trip to the NBA Finals over the campaign. The Celtics would not have made a championship appearance in the particular season had it not been for the grand efforts from the player involved.
