1. Milwaukee Bucks are a formidable defensive squad

Ok. We’ve already discussed how well the Bucks perform from an offensive standpoint. They are the top-scoring team in the NBA, and they have the seventh-best offensive rating at 112.6 points per 100 possessions.

We’ve also talked about the fact that they have multiple players that can hurt you from long range. But the one area that hasn’t been talked about a lot is Milwaukee’s defense.

The Bucks are a top-five team in scoring defense, yielding 107.4 points per contest. Milwaukee also has the league’s best defensive rating, allowing 101.9 points per 100 possessions.

Another area where the Bucks are doing well is protecting the rim. The Bucks are currently averaging 6.0 blocks per contest. This is the third-highest average in the league behind the Portland Trail Blazers (6.4 blocks per game) and the Lakers (6.8 blocks per contest).

Last, but not least, let’s discuss how poorly opposing teams shoot against this Bucks’ defense. The Bucks have limited their opponents to 41.3 percent shooting from the field. This is, yep, you guessed it, the best mark in the NBA. And just for good measure, let’s also throw in the fact that the Bucks are the top rebounding team as well, hauling in 51.7 boards per outing.

Both the LA Clippers and the Lakers were the prohibitive favorites to win the title coming into the 2019-20 NBA season, and rightfully so. But based on the numbers, the Bucks are as formidable as any team in the league and they will be a tough out come playoff time.
