Who should the Suns consider for their expanded roster in Orlando?
By Jono Perilli
J.R. Smith
One of the most eyed free agents during the restart period, J.R. Smith would possibly be a great fit for the Phoenix Suns, if it pans out well in the signing process.
The Phoenix Suns would be facing a challenge in attempting to bring Smith to the Yacht Club where the team will be staying during their eight-game stint at Walt Disney World. Still, Smith has a lot of eyes on him, arguably the most considering his playoff experience and his excellent ability to play his role, contrary to what most fans say about him.
He certainly isn’t a perfect player, and won’t completely change the game, but he’s an extra body on the floor that can provide some decent scoring and defense.
But the Suns would be facing a challenge in order to bring the 34-year-old shooting guard. Firstly, he hasn’t played a proper game since November 2018, basically giving up on the Cleveland Cavaliers because well, they weren’t playing playoff basketball at all. He’s been a free agent ever since and did gain some traction with signing to the Milwaukee Bucks and the Los Angeles Lakers.
Still, Smith is a nice shooting threat to fit alongside this shooting oriented team, and the team could somehow do nicely with a solid player like him.
