NBA: 6 best free agents who are eligible to play in resumed season
By Dalton Sell
Gerald Green
Known for his high flying dunks, Gerald Green was an NBA journeyman before he established himself as a solidified player in the Houston Rocket’s rotation for the past few seasons. Green has missed the entirety of this season because of a broken foot, and remains a free agent after he got traded to and soon waived by the Denver Nuggets midseason.
With adequate time to heal, Green could now be a perfect piece to implement into a team’s second unit. In 73 games with the Rockets last season, the guard averaged 9.2 points per game on 40.0 percent field goal shooting and 35.4 percent from 3-point territory as a serviceable piece.
While the Rockets bringing Green back would seem to be the most logistical scenario, by rule, they cannot do that, even in this irregular scenario. This predicament could provide teams in need of a wing the chance to find their guy.
Teams like the Indiana Pacers who lost Jeremy Lamb for the season or the Utah Jazz that lost Bogdan Bogdanovic could use a player like Green to fill the void. An impact scorer who can defend several positions and shoot the 3-ball at a high rate, Green could be a top-tier target on the market for several teams.
