Los Angeles Lakers: Questions to answer once offseason arrives
1. What’s the plan with Kyle Kuzma?
Kyle Kuzma’s future is a real problem that will need to be addressed sooner rather than later. It was already believed that the Lakers made a sizable push to trade him ahead of the 2020 deadline, but that never happened. While that may be the case, it doesn’t mean he couldn’t still become trade bait when the offseason rolls around.
The Lakers will likely be looking to add a veteran who can contribute immediately. If that ends up being the situation, it almost makes sense to package Kuzma and whoever they take with that first-round pick to make a deal happen.
That comes with its own share of issues (like that teams may not be interested in who they select), but it’s an option nonetheless.
Right now, Kuzma’s future is up in the air. He would love to be a Laker, but it’s starting to look like one of those “needs a change of scenery” situations. Ultimately that’s up to Pelinka and Co.
Will we see Kuzma wearing purple and
gold
yellow in 2020-21? Hard to say right now, but don’t be surprised if the eventual answer is no.
