Eventually, the 2019-20 NBA season will end. When that time comes, the Los Angeles Lakers will have several legitimate concerns to address.
It’s been a long last few months. Just as the Los Angeles Lakers were hitting their stride, the world came to a stop and hasn’t resumed since. However, as we’re all aware at this point, it looks like the NBA may be able to restart the season in the not-too-distant future.
Regardless of whether or not that happens and what comes of the rest of the 2019-20 campaign, the Lakers have some significant offseason concerns to address. While the roster should be mostly intact when next season rolls around, there will undoubtedly be some changes to come. Then there’s the 2020 NBA Draft and several personnel situations that must be taken care of.
It’s not going to be as simple an offseason as fans want to believe. Even if the season restarts successfully and the Lakers go on to win their 17th title, they aren’t going to be able to just run it back.
As the old saying goes: “the only constant in life is change.”
The immediate future looks bright for the Lakers, who figure to be among the top contenders when things tip off in Orlando. Winning a championship would be great, but the front office has its sights set on more than just one. That means making the right choices during the offseason as well.
