Power ranking the teams at each hotel in NBA’s Disney re-launch
By Duncan Smith
The NBA’s plans to re-launch its suspended season in Orlando are in full swing. They’ve divided teams into tiers at hotels, and we’ll power rank the teams at each hotel.
It’s been a wild week for the NBA as the league has begun to roll out plans for its upcoming re-start at Walt Disney World’s Wide World of Sports in Orlando at the end of July. Between inane-seeming rules (full contact basketball is fine but no doubles ping-pong?), a hotline to report COVID-safety violations, and a brief flurry over the news that Kyrie Irving had proposed starting a competing league (apparently he didn’t, but he did leave the Brooklyn Nets group chat over it), the last 24 hours alone have had it all.

In the blast of information, one overlooked aspect is that the league has assigned the 22 returning teams hotel accommodations. Effectively, the NBA divided the teams into tiers based on their current standings and assigned them housing accordingly.
The top seeds, teams that currently stand in position to have homecourt advantage (if such a thing existed), will stay at the Grand Destino hotel. These teams are the Milwaukee Bucks, the Los Angeles Lakers, the Toronto Raptors, the LA Clippers, the Boston Celtics, the Denver Nuggets, the Utah Jazz and the Miami Heat.
As for the bottom current playoff seeds, they’ll stay at the Grand Floridian. These teams are the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Philadelphia 76ers, the Houston Rockets, the Indiana Pacers, the Dallas Mavericks, the Brooklyn Nets, the Memphis Grizzlies and the Orlando Magic.
Finally, the teams on the outside looking in at the playoff picture will stay at the Yacht Club. These teams will be the Portland Trail Blazers, the Sacramento Kings, the New Orleans Pelicans, the San Antonio Spurs, the Phoenix Suns and the Washington Wizards.
The NBA has divided these teams into clear and reasonable tiers. For our purposes, we’re going to look at the teams grouped into each hotel and power rank them. We will start with the teams at the Grand Destino, then proceed to the Grand Floridian and finally the Yacht Club.
Without further ado, let’s rank these teams.
