Myles Turner

With teammate Domantas Sabonis breaking out this season to NBA All-Star status, Myles Turner‘s time with the Indiana Pacers could be coming to an end. The fit has become questionable, as the two might not be very compatible.

After only starting five games last season and earning some Sixth Man of the Year praise, Sabonis started 62 games for the Pacers this season, which hindered the play of Turner. The center took a step back statistically, as he only averaged 11.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game with some subpar play.

Turner’s once impressive 3-point shooting turned mediocre this season also as he only connected on 33.6 percent, down from 38.8 percent last year. Although Sabonis proved to be a fantastic player, one hole in his game is his treacherous 3-point shooting, as he averaged 25.4 percent from behind the arc this season.

To avoid a big man fiasco as seen between Joel Embiid and Al Horford of the Philadelphia 76ers, the Indiana Pacers and Myles Turner could both benefit from a separation this offseason. Vincent Frank of Sportsnaut recently suggested that the Golden State Warriors would be an interesting trade partner in a deal involving Draymond Green.

"“In this deal, the Pacers add another big to go with All-Star center Domantas Sabonis. Green’s passing ability would be huge for Sabonis and Victor Oladipo. In turn, Golden State picks up a center of the future to pair with Marquese Chriss while adding T.J. McConnell to improve its bench and gaining a first-round pick in 2021 from Indiana.”"

With all of the spacing created by Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson in Golden State, a big man like Turner could thrive in that system. At 24 years old, Turner has a long career ahead of him, and could undoubtedly use a fresh start elsewhere with the emergence of Sabonis.
