Bogdan Bogdanovic

Bogdan Bogdanovic is a restricted free agent going into this off-season with the Sacramento Kings. Bogdan came into the season on fire after being selected for the All-Tournament team in the 2019 FIBA World Cup, representing Serbia. Bogdan averaged 22.9 points, 4.4 assists per game with a ridiculous 53 percent from three with eight attempts per game. He easily outshined his teammate and NBA All-Star Nikola Jokic during the World Cup as the best Serbian player.

The Kings looked to be the new team in the Western Conference after being a prospective top “League Pass team” the previous season. Unfortunately, the Kings suffered injuries to their young stars in De’Aaron Fox and Marvin Bagley III. Only playing in a total of 58 games leaving the Kings in the 11th seed in the West as of the NBA’s coronavirus-induced hiatus,  four games behind the Memphis Grizzlies for eighth.

Despite the disappointing season Bogdanovic individually had a solid year with many ups and downs along with his team but averaged 14.5 points per game, 3.2 assist and rebounds per game while taking 7.2 attempts from 3 and making 36 percent of them. Bogdanovic’s biggest strength is his shooting, the averages don’t justify just how hot he can get in games if filter his 3-point percent by games with 25 points scored or more he sits at 62.5 percent from long distance.

His shooting is something the Bulls need as this season they ranked 24th in 3-point percentage but was in the top 10 teams of attempted threes per game. If the team wants to continue their barrage from outside putting Bogdanovic alongside Zach LaVine and Lauri Markkanen would help the spacing tremendously.

He isn’t just a 3-point specialist, he is a great facilitator in the fast-break and as a pick-and-roll passer both assisting bigs or to the open man in the corner. Bogdanovic has shown great promise passing in the pick and with bigs like Willie Cauley-Stein, Richaun Holmes and Bagley, those guys all fit within the mould of the Bulls current bigs in Wendall Carter Jr and Daniel Gafford.

Bogdanovic is a point forward with great passing instincts giving him the ability to run as a secondary ball-handler next to a point guard, and his chemistry with Serbian national team and Kings teammate Nemanja Bjelica would translate well to Markkanen’s potential as a stretch 4. His skills make him an ideal starter or an interchangeable forward with Otto Porter, who can swap with Bogdan if the bench needs some firepower or if the defense is struggling in the starting lineup.
