Next, we have one of the more recent acquisitions in Alec Burks. It’s no question that the Philadelphia 76ers lack offensive production coming off the bench. The lack of depth has most definitely exposed this problem on a multitude of occasions.

With that in mind, the Sixers made a deal with the Golden State Warriors in order to acquire Burks and Glenn Robinson III. The move was seen as an immediate improvement to the bench. Finally! The Sixers had a competent second unit. But, since arriving in Philadelphia, the duo of Burks and Robinson has not panned out as planned.

While excelling in Golden State, with a massively increased workload and more opportunities with the ball, Sixers head coach Brett Brown has not found the proper way to utilize the pair. However, of the two players in question, Burks has proven to be the more consistent of the two.

On area where Burks excels is creating his own offense. He has shown that he can carry the load off the bench. Interestingly enough, Burks is averaging 10.7 points per game while seeing a 10-minute decrease in playing time. This gives us the impression that Burks can still be productive even if his role is not as extensive as in the past. With that in mind, it would be no question that Burks will most likely see a minutes increase when the rotations shrink.

As such, Burks would likely need to be more productive, for the Sixers’ sake. It will be crucial for the Sixers to see an increase in productivity from Burks off the bench. Since minutes are few and far between, Burks will need to take advantage of whatever minutes he gets.
