Philadelphia 76ers: 3 players who must step up in the playoffs
By Pete Sawan
With the Philadelphia 76ers looking towards the playoff, the team is going to need to see some massive steps forward from some of its current talent.
Now, the Philadelphia 76ers have a plethora of talent to work with. It can be argued that the Sixers have one of the most star-studded rosters in the NBA. On paper, it could be argued that this collection of talent could go toe-to-toe with almost any team.
That said, Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid will obviously need to step their collective game up. As the stars of the team, they will need to carry the bulk of the load for Philadelphia. It will come down to the supporting cast in order for the Sixers to truly excel.

While the Philadelphia 76ers have attempted to bolster their roster through free agency, the draft, and trades, there comes a time where certain pieces need to meet a standard of excellence that so few have achieved. Essentially, role players will need to play a substantial role in the Sixers’ success going forward. There is only so much that the stars can do. It will be up to those role players to dig deep and find a sort of drive that even they have not seen in themselves before.
The forthcoming players will come from a variety of areas. For instance, we will see how one particular player will need to make his voice heard, even though he is a rookie. Another will be a player who was acquired through trade, as he had himself a phenomenal season with his prior team. Finally, we will look at a veteran who needs to find a niche for himself and hopefully bring wisdom and prominence wherever he is needed.
However, it’s no secret that this team has not panned out, as of yet. Whether it be injuries, lack of spacing, or lack of depth, the Philadelphia 76ers have had a myriad of issues. It’s a situation where the Sixers have exhausted every resource they have. It will come down to whether or not the team can overcome some of its shortcomings. As such, some of these players will need to step their game up.
