8: Devin Harris (2008-09)

Season Stats: 21.3 points, 6.9 assists per game

A massive case of ‘We forgot he was this good’, Devin Harris fits the mold of an unlikely/obscure All-Star who was more overlooked than undeserving

Here we are, Devin Harris is one of those guys you completely forgot were actually superb in their primes because you’re so used to them playing mediocre in their mid-30s. It’s unfortunately true. Harris was that guy, the definition of it, perhaps.

But that was the case in 2009, when Devin Harris was a serious threat for the New Jersey Nets, becoming a major force for the team, despite their negative record. He was that good that, he was one of the best point guards in the league that season.

Still, Harris took a fair bit of time to actually live up to his fifth pick potential, and it’s a bit of a stretch to even say that he lived up to it. He wasn’t always the best player throughout his career, but thankfully he was able to make something out of his newfound opportunity.

Following his unexpected All-Star season, Harris would never get close to stardom again, floating around the league before ending up in Dallas, where he still plays today. Getting minutes? Probably not.

Although he hasn’t shown it recently, Devin Harris was a legitimate All-Star and a threat at the one.
