NBA: 20 ridiculously obscure NBA All-Star seasons that we totally forgot
By Jono Perilli
6: Mookie Blaylock (1993-94)
Season Stats: 13.8 points, 9.7 assists per game
This is our first case of an unlikely All-Star season, which was one of the most remarkable cases of a forgotten stud here.
When you talk about Mookie Blaylock, you don’t necessarily associate him as an All-Star, you would think of him as one of the most overlooked defenders in the 1990s. But there was a point in time, a point in time being in 1994, where Blaylock was an All-Star.
Call it what you want, but Blaylock was playing some of the best basketball of his career while gluing together a solid Hawks roster that finished with 57 wins.
Looking back on it, Blaylock is a player that, despite his excellent two-way ability, never was a common All-Star. Unfortunately, he played during an era with some of the finest guards in NBA history.
Following this season, Blaylock would play better, but would never be able to slip into the All-Star candidate conversation again. Blaylock isn’t undeserving, rather unlikely more than anything.
For our first non-disappointing player, Mookie, you’ve done well.
