4: Vlade Divac (2000-01)

Season Stats: 12.0 points, 8.3 rebounds per game

Vlade Divac was a great player, and he had some superb years in Los Angeles and Sacramento, but it was arguably one of his lesser seasons, that saw him receive an All-Star nod.

In a case of ‘He’s on a winning team, therefore he’s an All-Star’, Divac was a fantastic puzzle piece for the Sacramento Kings, who were on the verge of one of their best seasons to date. While 2001-02 would provide results, Divac never played his best basketball in those two seasons. A fantastic defender and post player, Divac was a remarkable player, fitting perfectly into that Kings team.

But come on, out of all the seasons to get an All-Star nod, it’s one of his most average years. You wouldn’t call it his worst since he’d have some more shockers, but Divac’s All-Star appearance was pretty confusing, Kings fan or not.

This selection is another unfortunate case of ”He’s on a winning team, therefore he’s an All-Star,” which is worth discussing. Yes, we understand that they’ve been great for their team, and they’re winning, but come on.

Unfortunately, Vlade Divac’s All-Star appearance isn’t necessarily undeserving, but out of all his strong seasons, this one puzzled us the most.
