12: Kyle Korver (2014-15)

Season Stats: 12.1 points per game, 49.2 3-point percentage

There a lot of misconceptions with Kyle Korver as an All-Star, but we genuinely think he deserves this appearance, based on his shooting alone.

Fans feel a bit split when they make the thought of Korver’s All-Star season. Is it undeserving? Is it deserving? It’s a tough debate. But we feel like he’s deserving. Still, for someone who was widely considered mainly one of the best shooting role-players of our generation, it feels odd to see him with an All-Star nod, but he deserved it.

Korver shot an astounding 49.2 percent from three, which is nowhere near his best shooting season, where he shot 53.6 percent in the 2009-10 season. He was also one of the biggest key members on that Hawks squad that finished with 60 wins, goodness that feels so long ago.

Still, a lot of people love to deny this selection since he’s been more known as a pure-shooter, and nothing else, which he is. But it’s more of the thought that he has only been a role-player his whole career.

You could say that his role earned this All-Star nod, but take it with a grain of salt. We’re not going to ignore the fact that, yes, he got his spot because he was on a dominant winning team, and the NBA decided that. It’s a bit weak, since some players, such as Demar DeRozan missed out on a spot, but we’re not using that argument. Korver deserved this, contrary to most beliefs.

To most, this selection is still puzzling, but from our perspective, it feels just right.
