1. They know they have depth

Getting the superstars is the hard part of the NBA. Once you have several of them, you still need to surround them with the right players. The Nets know they have this system in place already, for now at least, and it must be such a comfort to them to know that they have legitimate depth.

All great teams have that guy who can make opponents pay from deep because of the open looks they receive. Joe Harris has been among the best long-range shooters in the league for the last couple of years now (outrageous 47.4 percent in 2018-19 and 41.2 percent in 2019-20).

More than that though, the Nets also have Caris LeVert, a budding star in his own right before an ankle dislocation derailed his ascension last season. Still only 25, he came back from that injury quicker than expected and was averaging an impressive 17.7 points on 38.1 percent shooting from deep.

You have to think the Nets will always have one of Durant and Irving on the floor throughout a game. Having LeVert and Dinwiddie to create their own shot and feel comfortable carrying the offense for stretches is such a bonus. Add Harris to that mix, and opponents should rightly feel nervous about the firepower they’d be going up against.

There’s power in the paint too, with Jarrett Allen an underrated player in the league. Somehow he’s only 21, but in his third year in the league, he was averaging 10.6 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. This despite seeing DeAndre Jordan join the roster. Even though he is passed his best and won’t be around forever, he is good to have himself in small bursts.

Defensively, the Nets rank a very credible eighth (108.3), with the number increasing slightly (108.9) when Allen is out there. His PER of 20.3 however (career-high) means he is doing a lot right and is helping defensively too.

All of which is to say, the Nets are going to be a scary proposition once fully healthy, right across the roster.
