Joe Harris

Make no mistake about it, 6’6″ sharpshooter Joe Harris would have a significant impact on the success of the Boston Celtics. Currently with the Brooklyn Nets, Harris will be an unrestricted free agent and while some minor moves would be needed, he is within range from a salary cap perspective. And, Harris could very well be looking to connect with a championship-caliber unit.

The former University of Virginia star and 2014 second-round draft pick of the Cleveland Cavaliers has built a reputation as an excellent three-point artist and foul shooter during his time in the NBA. His resume includes a history of shooting beyond 50 percent from the field and a minimum of 40 percent from 3-point range. He is also an 80 percent-plus free throw shooter.

The addition of Harris would allow the Boston Celtics to use Jaylen Brown more often at the small forward position and move the steadily bulking Jayson Tatum to the power forward spot on a more regular basis. This role of an athletic big man is one the Celtics have been lacking. Shifting Tatum into that position more often along with Celtic moves in the NBA draft and free agency would further bolster that role.

Most of all, Joe Harris would give Boston the steady outside shooter badly needed off the bench. Currently, when the green goes to the bench, other than Gordon Hayward, they have no one to stretch the defense. Harris would provide that fit.
