8. The Heatles

From 2010 to 2014, the Mami Heat dominated the NBA with the deadly Heatles trio featuring Lebron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, and they’re long overdue for a documentary.

After LeBron uttered the words “I’m taking my talents to South Beach,” the whole NBA shifted. The best player in the NBA was grouped with one of the most deadly shooting guards in the NBA and an All-Star power forward.

This Big Three era would produce two championships in 2012 and 2013, shifting the landscape of the league. A documentary wouldn’t just look at the championship glory, but rather a mixture of both the positives and the negatives, including the heartbreaking loss to the Dallas Mavericks in the 2011 Finals.

From this period, we saw some fantastic moments, including the historical 27-game win streak. While this team wasn’t super dominant, it’s worth noting and understanding how great this team was.

It was some of the best years of Lebron’s career and was arguably his prime form. But it’s also the impact that the Lebron signing had on the NBA, especially the Cleveland Cavaliers, that is important. It’s fantastic to see how quickly the city of Cleveland went from loving Lebron to completely despising him in an instant.

Even the post-Big Three era is something interesting, and how the Heat struggled to bounce back after the dominant era prior. The Heatles are important for the NBA’s history, considering how they were the premier superteam in the NBA at the time. It’s a simple yet effective topic that a filmmaker would be willing to tackle.
