6. The Death of The Conventional Center

This isn’t based on a certain player, team or moment. It’s based on the developing game of basketball and the loss of the stereotypical big man.

It’s an interesting topic to look at in most perspectives. There has been a massive development from this stereotypical center. That stereotype is that they’re big bodies who can crash the boards and can make amuck in the paint on offense. That has slowly developed into the average center being able to extend their arsenal and harass as shooters.

It’s caused these conventional big men to lose their spots on the roster, like Greg Monroe. It’s a topic that could analyze and look at the development through the last two decades. It’s more or less the death of something so prominent in classic basketball.

It’s interesting when you do some research. What caused this to change? Was it possibly caused by a certain player? It’s rather fascinating when you take a bit of a look. The shooting big revolution started with 2000s big men like Brad Miller and Mehmet Okur, and the tradition would be continued all around the league. It’s interesting to see how these players have to completely alter their playstyle to fit the modern game of basketball.

It can be an investigation into how the game we know and love has changed. For better or for worse, we don’t necessarily know. It’s nothing too groundbreaking, or too controversial to gain tons of views, but it’s a great topic for those who want to understand the game’s changes.
