9. Livio Jean-Charles

Milutinov isn’t the only recent first-round pick who hasn’t made an appearance for the San Antonio Spurs. Livio Jean-Charles has come close, though – in fact, he’s made it as far as Austin.

After a successful career in France, the power forward made himself eligible for the NBA selection process and was drafted by the Spurs with the 28th pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. He then stuck around in France for another three years.

Jean-Charles finally made the leap in 2016, joining the Spurs for the Summer League and earning an invite to the roster, where he suited up for several preseason games. He failed to make the final cut and wound up with the Austin Spurs for a spell before going back to France.

In 2017-18, he started the year with the Austin Spurs and had a productive season. In 45 games, he started 18 times, averaging 11.3 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. But that was all he wrote for Jean-Charles in the United States.

By the start of the 2018-19 season, Jean-Charles was back in France with ASVEL Basket, his third stint with the club. He remains there today, where he’s won two Pro A championships and a French Cup. Jean-Charles is a solid international player, but he’ll always be a “what if” for the San Antonio Spurs.
