The Los Angeles Lakers will have a busy offseason ahead, and there are five specific free agents they should target to bolster their roster.

With the NBA season currently suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Los Angeles Lakers sit presently as the 1-seed in the loaded Western Conference. They appeared to be one of the leading candidates that had a legitimate shot at bringing home their first title in over a decade.

The NBA has gained traction to return in recent days, but no matter how far they go this season, they will face a critical offseason when it comes. Several crucial rotation pieces will become free agents, with Anthony Davis being the elephant in the room. The forward does have a player option that could keep him with the team for another year, but the odds of him opting into that deal are slim to none.

Aside from Davis, Avery Bradley, Rajon Rondo, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and JaVale McGee will also have player options, but their futures with the team are unclear. Looking at the unrestricted free agents, Dwight Howard, Jared Dudley, Markieff Morris, and Dion Waiters will hit the market, potentially causing trouble for the depth of the Los Angeles Lakers.

While the team is not likely to lose all of these players, they could undoubtedly lose a few that were essential in their success this season. While this will not be the most star-studded free-agent class, there will be a few names that could significantly help the Lakers, potentially making them even better than this year.

While the team is focused on winning a title this season, looking ahead might not be such a bad idea. With that, here are five free agents that the Los Angeles Lakers should target in the impending free agency.
