1. The Process

There was losing. A lot of losing during the Philadelphia 76ers’ process to reestablish themselves as NBA contenders. Yet somehow, not even a measly 47 wins across three seasons tells the full story of the foundation laid by Sam Hinkie.

A revolving door of G Leaguers becoming fixtures in the starting lineup. Three centers selected in consecutive drafts, two of whom missed their rookie season. Trades that shattered any sliver of hope, further plummeting Philly down the standings.

Brett Brown was tasked with keeping the sinking ship steady, but his optimism could only push past so much of the toll a blatant tank job takes on the players. Many of whom were experiencing the NBA for the first time.

Even as the Sixers began trending upward, the franchise hardly became a model of stability. Hinkie’s departure leading to Bryan Colangelo’s Twitter scandal. Markelle Fultz forgot the basics of what prompted the Sixers to trade up and select him No. 1 overall.

Books have been written. Anecdotes have been shared. Nothing could fully do the Sixers’ Process justice than the day-in-day-out capture of the damage intentional losing takes on an entire organization and everything that came Philly’s way along with it.
