Many believed throughout this season that there were only a few teams that could contend for an NBA title, but who are the dark horses when play resumes?

For a majority of this season, many placed the Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Lakers, and LA Clippers in a tier above the rest of the NBA in terms of title contention odds. Any other teams seemingly got disregarded entirely, but there are a few candidates that could potentially make some noise if the NBA season does indeed resume in the coming months.

While the Bucks, Lakers, and Clippers rightfully asserted themselves as the regular season juggernauts, that does not guarantee them a spot in the NBA Finals. The regular season and postseason are two entirely different scenarios, and there could be a few upsets waiting to happen as teams turn their play up an intensified notch.

Over the past few seasons, everyone recognized that the Golden State Warriors would come out of the Western Conference dominantly, as they did over the past half-decade. Simultaneously, except for last season, the Cleveland Cavaliers would consistently come out of the Eastern Conference, and the two teams would go at it in four out of the past five NBA Finals.

With the Cavaliers and Warriors both projected to be in the NBA’s draft lottery this season, every team’s title hopes have risen as a championship should be open for the taking this season. While some narrowed their focus to only three teams in the potential upcoming postseason to win it all, here are three other teams to keep an eye on as dark-horse contenders.
