#16 Pick: Kevin Martin (Originally: Kirk Snyder)

The Jazz are back on the board and we are giving them their backcourt of the future, or at least their reserve backcourt of the future should they still end up with Deron Williams the following season.

They originally took Kirk Snyder who played three positions for four teams and was out of the league by 2008. His off the court troubles would come about following his departure to the CBA in the 2008 offseason. We can do better than that.

Kevin Martin is another player who is often forgotten as time goes on or joked about due to their involvement in some of the weird trades of the time (in Martin’s case the infamous James Harden trade), but he was ahead of his time.

At 6’7” with combo guard abilities, Martin seemed destined to become a contributor for playoff contenders. More often than not, he was saddled with teams unable to take advantage of his skill set.  For someone who often flew under the radar, he had six seasons where he averaged 20 points or more per game.

His game was somewhat one dimensional, averaging 38.4 percent from three for his career but only averaging 3.2 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. But on a team with Boozer, Okur, Harris and Kirilenko, his spacing makes a lot of sense.
