New York Knicks: 5 realistic options in upcoming free agency
By Dalton Sell
3. Davis Bertans
The New York Knicks struggled immensely from 3-point territory this past season, having shot 33.7 percent as a team, 27th in the league. If the team would like to find some shooting to address this problem in free agency, Davis Bertans is a name they should heavily consider targeting.
Bertans had a career-year for the Washington Wizards this season, having averaged 15.4 points per game on an astonishing 42.4 percent from behind the arc. Having made just $7 million this season, Bertans could be in search of a higher pay grade after his stellar year, and the Knicks could give him just that.
A deal for Bertans could make sense for both sides as the team needs a sharpshooter from 3-point territory and can also afford to pay him around what he wants potentially. The 27-year-old was a bright spot for the lottery-bound Wizards this past season, and could potentially carry that spark over to the Knicks.
Whether it be as a starter or reserve, adding Bertans would provide a significant boost to this New York offense, and the team should seriously consider making a considerate run at the forward. Prying him away from the Wizards could be a difficult task, but the Knicks should have the money to at least make a pitch to Bertans.
