Phoenix Suns: Grading every player’s 2019-20 season
By Jono Perilli
Dario Saric
Dario Saric was able to continue an ounce of momentum he had from his great seasons in Philadelphia, but the Suns weren’t able to get the full package from the Croatian forward.
After a few seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers and one average season with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Saric found himself as a Sun after a trade on draft night. Considering the Phoenix Suns traded the fourth pick to the Timberwolves for a package that included Saric, he wasn’t completely successful for his first season in Arizona. Considering his spot as a starter for the team, it’s hard to put Saric over the younger, and arguably better, Mikal Bridges.
In 58 games, Daric averaged 10.1 points per game, while grabbing 5.9 rebounds per night. Statistically, this was a career-low for his points per game, barely. Saric also played a ton of time for the Suns, averaging 24.8 minutes per game, and he also started 50 of his 58 games in Phoenix.
You can’t necessarily consider this a tough year for Saric, because he really wasn’t terrible. It’s more that he wasn’t really needed for the Suns since Bridges was the more preferred option for the team. Letting go of Saric would be the logical decision for the organization since he doesn’t really deserve a spot in their future plans.
He did have some awesome games, even when he scored 18 points, with a whopping 17 rebounds, while shooting four threes. He had his moments, and you can’t deny how good of an individual player he is. Yet, he never really made an impact for the team.
Unfortunately, we could be seeing the last of Dario in a Suns jersey, but it was a good ride for what it was.
