Patrick McCaw: C

I’m not going to take advantage of this opportunity to rip on Patrick McCaw, Raptors Twitter does enough of that.

I didn’t give him the grade of a C because he lived up to my high expectations for him. I put him there because I never truly had major expectations. McCaw has been the same type of player throughout his whole career.

He can typically hold his own on defense, and offensively can do a little bit of everything, the keyword being “little.” He has his moments, like his 18 points, 8 assists, and 7 rebounds against the Boston Celtics in late December, but for the most part, isn’t much of a factor on offense.

Everyone likes to look at the negatives when watching McCaw play. That’s partially due to the fact that Nick Nurse likes to play him as the second or third guy off the bench, but also because he can go so unknown, that when he makes a big splash, it’s often for the other team.

Overall, McCaw isn’t a bad player, he just shouldn’t be averaging 24.5 minutes per game. He panned out fine in comparison to my low expectations for him. Besides, we all know Nick Nurse is a big fan of his, and that’s really all that matters.
