Toronto Raptors: Player grades based off preseason expectations

Pascal Siakam: A
The 2019 most improved player looks to have put himself on the charts for that award once more. With a jump from 16.9 points per game to 23.6, and an increase in assists, and rebounds, Pascal Siakam has taken his game to yet another level.
Arguably the greatest three-year improvement story in NBA history, and he still looks to have areas to want to improve on for next season already.
Pascal Siakam has been the Raptors’ best player this season and was rewarded with the opportunity to start in one of the most entertaining All-Star games that I’ve ever seen.
I, and some other people, had questions surrounding the max extension which was awarded to Siakam at the conclusion of last season. In no way did I think he wasn’t deserving of a large sum of cash, but those max contracts are typically reserved for number one options.
Well, this season, Siakam was most definitely a number one option, and a good one at that. When you have 15 games of 30 or more points, you are most definitely one of the top players in the league.
It would still be nice to see Siakam develop a mid-range game. The ability to pull up mid-drive, and collect the ball to shoot over the top of someone is something that is still missing from Siakam’s game. If he adds that, the league is going to be in trouble.
With the growth Siakam has shown throughout his career so far, there is no doubt that he has the capability to continue to make leaps as a player. He is one of my favorite players to watch, and I’m certain we’ll be watching him in a Raptors uniform for many years to come.
