Los Angeles Lakers: Top 2020 NBA Draft options to join LeBron James, Anthony Davis
Whenever the 2020 NBA Draft finally rolls around, the Los Angeles Lakers will have a number of intriguing options who can provide an early or long-term impact.
I know it doesn’t seem like it right now, but the Los Angeles Lakers will add talent via the 2020 NBA Draft at some point in the not-too-distant future. Obviously we still have to see what happens with the rest of the 2019-20 season, but the draft will happen eventually.
Seeing as we currently have no NBA basketball being played at this moment, the next best thing is speculating on the future. Given that the Lakers’ future is still glaringly bright with LeBron James in town and Anthony Davis expected to re-sign, it only makes sense to imagine what other talents could be wearing the purple and gold next season.
That’s why I’ve put together this list of top options for the Lakers during the 2020 NBA Draft.
Again, it’s unclear how the rest of the current season will play out — if at all. At this moment, if the season were to simply be over, the Lakers would be the proud owners of the No. 29 overall pick. While that’s not exactly ideal in terms of adding talent that can help right away, we also know that Los Angeles excels at drafting late-first-round prospects.
Need examples? How about Kyle Kuzma, who was taken with the No. 27 overall pick? Or Ivica Zubac, who came off the board at No. 32 overall? Maybe Josh Hart (No. 30) or Larry Nance (No. 27)? I think you get the point.
So let’s take a gander at some realistic options for the Lakers, assuming they end up with a pick near the end of the first round of the 2020 NBA Draft.
