Atlanta Hawks: Ranking the last 10 first round picks
By Corey Rausch
Number 7: Cam Reddish
The ceiling is much higher for this than Cam Reddish, as he is only 58 games into his NBA career. If we are projecting forward I would have him higher on this list than some of those remaining, but a slow start to his rookie season hurts him in the rankings at this point in time.
No referendums on who went after him are needed here. While some picks have looked better early on Reddish was always going to take some time to fully come into his game. He was not featured as much as expected in college considering he played with Zion Williamson and RJ Barrett and that surely slowed his progression as a player.
In spite of the negativity surrounding his early-season play, he is currently averaging 10.5 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game in only 26.7 minutes. He has improved to 33.2 percent from distance, a number that should improve with further coaching and development. He is a solid transition partner for Young and Collins and should be one of the franchises building blocks going forward if he is not used in a trade for a win-now move as the Hawks have been rumored in.
Either way, this looks to be a good pick for the Hawks and one that should pay dividends in the coming seasons. It is only a matter of time.
