The Atlanta Hawks have a 55.3 percent chance to land a top-five pick. Looking back at the last 10 first-round picks can shed light on the future.

As we near another draft season it is time to look back at the last 10 first-round picks the Atlanta Hawks have made to get an idea of how we have arrived where we are today. The fact that we only have to go back to 2013 to hit the necessary total picks for this shows how active the team has been in the draft in recent memory.

More from Atlanta Hawks

Since the Hawks are currently rebuilding through draft capital the majority of these selections still have most of their story left to write. Considering the pick from 2013 is still only 26 years old, it is easy to see that the majority of these prospects still have not even hit their prime.

They are not all success stories though, as two of the players on this list would combine to play less than a season in Atlanta. But that is part of the trial and error necessary in the rebuilding process. For the most part, the Hawks have done well since Travis Schlenk came aboard as general manager in 2017.

Fair warning, most of these prospects are somewhat polarizing. Given that they have not done much winning yet plenty of casual fans are not overly familiar with most of their abilities. Also, the Luka Doncic trade looms over the more recent selections.

We will be looking at how these picks would compare to who was passed up to make the selections. This is not the only determining factor in a pick’s success, otherwise Trae Young would be much further down the list than he ends up given the opportunity cost of missing out on Luka Doncic, but it is part of the consideration.
