Several young NBA players just missed the cut to make their first All-Star game this season and should be certified locks to make it next year.

The term “snubbed” has become synonymous with NBA All-Star voting because it seems as if each year, one player, if not many, missed out even if they were worthy of being selected. This year, the most prominent example was Bradley Beal of the Washington Wizards, who averaged 28.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 4.4 assists at the time, but was not selected.

While that undoubtedly the biggest snub of the year, several other players also had a case that they got snubbed, and justifiably so. However, there was such an assortment of talent widespread across the league this season that having to choose the final roster seemed nearly impossible.

For those who did make it, there were several new faces in the All-Star Game this season, such as Luka Doncic, Trae Young, Pascal Siakam, and seven others, a testament to how star-studded the NBA’s young talent is. Even with 10 first-time All-Stars, many believed that there should have been more because there was so much talent that missed out. Still, while not as defiant as Beal’s snub was, several players received the title of being “a year away” in terms of All-Star recognition.

When having thought of players that could fit this mold, four of them came to mind based on their play this past season. If the player can pick up where they left off this season when next season resumes, whenever that might be, they are all but locked in to make their all-star debuts in the 2020-21 season.
