The Cons

Speaking of his size, it has to be mentioned that Cole Anthony is somewhat undersized. He is listed at 6’3” and 190 lbs., which will limit him to likely only being able to guard his position at best, cutting into his versatility.

He was older than most people in his class, turning 19 before the start of his freshman season, so some of his early dominance could be connected to be more physically mature than other freshman and that will catch up to him. It also means it is possible he is closer to the end of his growth physically, making his lack of size a detriment moving forward.

Decision making is another area he needs to improve on. He is not a dynamic passer and too often settles for long 2-pointers or contested 3-point attempts. Early in the shot clock is was common to see him settling for shots far behind the arc while teammates were still crossing half-court. This limits his ability to make his teammates better and could ruffle some feather early.

Finally, the injury he suffered this season is something of a red flag as is always the case with knee surgery for young players. As one of Anthony’s attractive talents is his transition offense any limitations to his athleticism going forward should drive down his stock.
