2016 NBA Redraft: Too soon for conclusions and answers

#7 Pick: Malik Beasley (Originally: Jamal Murray)

 Plenty of players can be debated with this slot as this is the first team that cannot pick the same player they did before. Except, the Nuggets did use a later pick to select Malik Beasley and will now be redrafting him here.

Beasley may have never gotten the full opportunity to be a starter for the team given that he was taken in the same draft as Jamal Murray but he was always solid in Denver. He only started 19 games over three and a half seasons in Denver and never played more than 23.2 minutes per game. Still a double-figure scorer in his third and fourth season the potential was clearly there.

Fourteen games in Minnesota are not enough to fully commit to him as a star but it is an insight into the potential that initially had him drafted in the top 20. Beasley averaged 20.7 points and 5.1 rebounds as the third option for a team struggling down the stretch of the dwindling season. He is a career 38.8 percent shooter from distance and floor spacing is the name of the game in today’s NBA. He fits this team well. Now let’s give him the keys full time.
