NBA Draft: Re-drafting the 2008 NBA Draft’s first round
By Zach Wilson
#6 Pick – New York Knicks: DeAndre Jordan (Originally: Danilo Gallinari)
This is yet another example of a player spending a portion of their career on their re-draft team. The only difference with DeAndre Jordan is that his New York Knicks tenure was a little bit past his prime.
In his days on the LA Clippers, Jordan was one of the most dominant centers in the entire NBA on the defensive end. He earned two All-Defensive nods and three All-NBA appearances.
Statistically, Jordan was a double-double machine with 9.5 points per game for his career and his rebounds per game ranging anywhere from 10 to his career-high of 15.0.
DeAndre to the Clippers is what Dennis Rodman was to the Bulls. The third, or at times even lower option offensively, but a monster on the glass and protecting the rim. The majority of his points came off alley-oops from Chris Paul or off put-backs.
Jordan has stepped into a role this year where he should be the backup center. At this point in his career, that would fit perfectly for him. However, it seems like people still like to hang on to his name and treat him like the athletic-monster he used to be.
Jordan has spent his career being an effective center and continues to be one, even still past his prime. Not necessarily statistically, but as an impact player, Jordan has had the sixth-best career in this draft class, sending him to the Knicks.
