NBA Draft: Re-drafting the 2008 NBA Draft’s first round
By Zach Wilson
#4 Pick – Seattle SuperSonics: Danilo Gallinari (Originally: Russell Westbrook)
Danilo Gallinari going to the Seattle Supersonics — eventually the OKC Thunder — continues our trend of guys ending up on their re-draft team.
Gallinari was the only player in the top 19 of the 2008 draft to be selected out of an international program.
Gallinari is the definition of consistency. A career average of 16.2 points per game with a peak of 19.8 points per game in the 2018-2019 year. He has never made an All-Star team but has hovered right around that last spot quite a few times.
His last season as a member of the LA Clippers during his career-best scoring season almost placed him in the 50/40/90 club with shooting splits of 46.3/43.3/90.4.
Gallinari has secretly been one of the best 3-point shooters in NBA history and finds himself only 0.0003 percent behind Kevin Durant’s percentage career-wise.
Like Rose, Gallinari also suffered a gruesome ACL injury in 2013-14, but he’s only come back strong from his. His best seasons have come from the 2015-2016 season and on. As a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder this year, Gallinari has played a large role in helping this team over-achieve to an unexpected playoff spot.
Gallinari is a great shooter and a big wing who can rebound and play-make as well. His consistency and ability to only improve with age places him at fourth in this re-draft.
