NBA Draft: Re-drafting the 2008 NBA Draft’s first round
By Zach Wilson
#30 Pick – Boston Celtics: Darrell Arthur (Originally: J.R. Giddens)
The final selection of the first round goes to Darrell Arthur. A player who was in the league for 10 seasons but only played nine due to an Achilles injury that kept him on the shelf for the entirety 2011-12 season.
He was a forward who would often come off the bench and a person who possessed a better 3-point shot then his percentages would lead you to believe. In his best season, he shot 45.3 percent from three, which helped bring his career average up to 35.2 percent.
A big wing but one that was often a little slow for the small forward spot led to him playing power forward for 81.0 percent of his career minutes.
His peak came on a run-and-gun Denver team in 2015-16 in which he shot 38.5 percent from beyond the arc on his way to 7.5 points along with 4.2 rebounds in just 21.7 minutes per game.
Arthur was often a third or fourth option off the bench and played his entire career for two teams — Memphis and Denver. A great locker room guy and a decent piece to bring off the bench. A perfect selection to take at pick No. 30.
