#28 Pick – Memphis Grizzlies: Brandon Rush (Originally: Donte Greene)

Brandon Rush is another player who played in an era too soon. A career 40.2 percent 3-point shooter who would perform wonders in the league today. Back in the late 2000s and early 2010s, 3-point shooting wasn’t as hot of a commodity.

Rush played his final NBA season in 2016-17 and bounced around the league a bit during his tenure. The one thing that followed was his 3-point shot.

Rush was never the quickest player, which limited his ability to create off the dribble. Decent athleticism and a great stroke are what kept his productivity in the league.

The weirdest aspect surrounding Rush’s career was his struggles at the free-throw line. Only shooting 70.6 percent from the line throughout his career, his smooth stroke from deep didn’t transition to the stripe

A young prospect like Brandon Rush would probably be valued very highly in the NBA today. Back then, shooting wasn’t viewed the same. He was still worth a first-round pick, just not as high of one as he would be in 2019.
