#25 Pick – Houston Rockets: Marreese Speights (Originally: Nicolas Batum)

Marreese Speights slowly became a good-looking player as he developed a 3-point shot. For the first nine seasons in the league, he was a fairly average back-up big man.

He only averaged double-digit points per game twice in his career, one of those being as a member of the 2014-2015 NBA champion Golden State Warriors. As a rebounder, Speights was fairly consistent with career averages of 4.1 and a career-high of 5.1 per game.

If you’re looking to add a big man to your team that is consistent and steady, Speights would be the perfect addition. You knew what you were going to get out of him every game, nothing worse, nothing better. He only reached the 30 point threshold once his entire 10-year career.

Speights is one of those guys that you look back upon and notice that he had a solid career. However, if it weren’t for the championship and being a part of two seasons of the amazing Warriors run, he likely wouldn’t be overly remembered.

Steadiness and consistency are all that you’re looking for when drafting late in the first round, and Speights is well worth the 25th pick due to that.
