#19 Pick – Cleveland Cavaliers: Jerryd Bayless (Originally: J.J. Hickson)

Jerryd Bayless is someone that you would consider a journeyman point guard. He’s played for eight teams in his 11 seasons and has never been a starting-caliber player. In saying this, he is a prototypical backup point guard and has been fulfilling that role throughout his entire career.

Only three seasons has he averaged double-digit points per game and his highest assist average was 4.3. At the same time, he’s never averaged 30 minutes per game.

For the most part, Bayless has been fairly reliable, and durable. The past three seasons have seen a dip in playing time due to injury or receiving a consistent stream of DNPs beside his name in the scorecard.

This past offseason saw Bayless’ NBA career come to an end when he signed to play professionally in China.

An NBA career not many will remember but one that brought valuable minutes to a lot of teams. He provided valuable playoff minutes to multiple organizations as well. He is someone that could always be relied upon to fulfill the backup point guard role but not someone who could carry a team. The perfect player for the 19th selection.
