NBA Draft: Re-drafting the 2008 NBA Draft’s first round
By Zach Wilson
#18 Pick – Washington Wizards: Courtney Lee (Originally: Javale McGee)
Courtney Lee has bounced around from team to team, but the one thing that has stayed constant is his 3-point shot. A 38.8 percent career 3-point shooter with multiple seasons over 40 percent, Lee remains one of the best shooters in the league to this day.
Lee is having his best 3-point shooting season percentage-wise this year as a Dallas Maverick, as he currently stands at 44.7 percent.
There isn’t much else to Lee’s game. He doesn’t create with the ball a ton, isn’t the strongest rebounder or defender, but shooting has always been a specialty. This is especially useful in a league where the majority of shots are threes or layups.
He’s never been a premier scorer, with 12.5 points per game in 2009-2010 being the top-scoring season of his career, but you would be lying if you said you wouldn’t like Courtney Lee on your team.
He has had very few seasons where he shot below 37 percent from 3-point range and it seemed like he was beginning to tail off towards these past few years, but this year has changed that.
Lee has been a consistent starter or high-level bench player and is well-worthy of being picked 18th in the re-draft.
