NBA Draft: Re-drafting the 2008 NBA Draft’s first round
By Zach Wilson
#10 Pick – New Jersey Nets: Ryan Anderson (Originally: Brook Lopez)
Although he wasn’t the first, Ryan Anderson was one of the original stretch fours to enter the league. A pure shooter at the power forward spot was rare. Guys who played the same position as Anderson were often back-to-the-basket, brute, rebounders.
Anderson has bounced around the league a lot. He is often responsible to stretch the floor, shoot when open and try not to get burnt to hard defensively. However, it is easy to forget how strong of a run Anderson in New Orleans.
The 2013-2014 season saw Anderson put up 19.8 points with 6.5 rebounds per game at an efficient rate of 43.8/40.9/95.2 shooting splits.
Efficiency and good shooting are about the only two words you can use to describe the career of Ryan Anderson. He shoots 38.0 percent from beyond the arc for his career and also shoots 85.4 percent from the line throughout his 12 seasons in the league.
He has helped a multitude of teams with his shooting ability, but the past few seasons have seen a drop in playing time. His career is slowly coming to an end, but it was one which was worth a top-ten pick in the 2008 draft.
