2010 Draft

Possible players available: Godron Hayward, Eric Bledsoe, Derrick Favors, Evan Turner

Player selected: Wesley Johnson (4th overall)

Imagine a world where Gordon Hayward was able to play off of the likes of Kevin Love and Ricky Rubio. Or one where Eric Bledsoe could line up with Rubio in the backcourt and form one of the best young defensive guard duos in the NBA.

Of course, neither of those things happened. The curse of the Orange continued as the Wolves selected small forward Wesley Johnson with the fourth overall pick.

It is difficult to blame the Wolves entirely. Johnson was coming off of a stellar season with Syracuse, earning first-team All-American honors and being named the Big East Player of the Year in 2010.

Once again, his game could not translate to the NBA. In his two seasons with the team, Johnson never averaged more than ten points per game and shot an abysmal 39.8 percent from the field.

Seeing how the careers of Hayward, Bledsoe and even Derrick Favors took off, it is difficult to justify the picking of Johnson with the fourth overall selection.
