NBA: 7 players who could be on the trade block this summer
2. Buddy Hield
Fresh off a newly inked extension with the Sacramento Kings, Buddy Hield‘s future with the team has never been less certain. The team pretty much solidified that when they made the moves necessary to clear cap space they’ll inevitably be used to extend Bogdan Bogdanovic.
And for the skeptics at home, Hield spent his last 20 straight games on the Kings’ bench. And to make his case worse, Sacramento went 13-7 in that span, vying for a playoff berth.
Still, don’t let that fool you into thinking he didn’t have a strong season. Hield posted 19.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game on a 42/39/85 shooting clip.
Per Basketball Reference, he was one of only 11 players who posted a .380 clip or better to average 3 or more assists per game. That kind of passing is rare in the league’s sharpshooters, and Hield lead those 11 players in 3-points made and attempted.
At this point, it’s less a matter of if they’ll trade Buddy and more a matter of where. Hield was one of the league’s best 3-point shooters this season, capturing the title at All-Star weekend.
A number of teams will no doubt come calling on the guard’s price tag, but expect the Philadelphia 76ers to make a hard pursuit. They’ll be prioritizing 3-point shooting this offseason.
