3. Delon Wright

Few players had a worse inaugural season with their new team than Delon Wright had with the Dallas Mavericks. Originally thought of as a potential future starting ball-handler, he found himself buried on the bench behind Jalen Brunson.

Wright ended up averaging 21.8 minutes per game, but he still produced: 7 points, 4 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. His defensive prowess and shooting efficiency (47/38/78 shooting split) kept him alive in the Mavericks’ rotation.

But if the 2019-2020 season is over, then Dallas’ will be looking into how they can upgrade their roster amidst the Western Conference arms race that is the playoff seeding.

Wright is one of the more likely candidates for trade as they’ve locked in a strong three-man core in Luka Doncic, Tim Hardaway Jr, and Kristaps Porzingis. They didn’t make him available at this year’s deadline, but at just $10 million per year, Dallas could get a high return on the guard.

If the Mavericks do end up making Wright available look for the New York Knicks and Detroit Pistons to take interest is they search for point guards in the offseason.
