NBA: 5 NBA Executives with the most to prove in the future
By Pete Sawan
Leon Rose – New York Knicks
Finally, we are going down the road, looking at the Knicks’ new president: former agent Leon Rose. Now, Rose was a basketball agent with Creative Arts Agency, one of the most prominent talent agencies in the world. He has represented the likes of LeBron James, Allen Iverson, and Joel Embiid, just to name a few.
It’s no question that Rose has his finger on the pulse in terms of player relations. His history in the business itself is prevalent, as he has been dominating this space for years. I could go on and on about his clientele, but for the sake of brevity, I’ll just say that Rose has represented some of the biggest names in NBA history.

Now, in March of 2020, Rose was named as the president of the New York Knicks. This move came as a semi-surprise, as William ‘Worldwide Wes’ Wesley was initially rumored to be named president of the Knicks. But, Wesley and Rose have a connection together, so if it wasn’t one it would ultimately be the other. As it currently stands, Wes will likely play an advisory role with the Knicks going forward.
Similar to Pelinka, the key to Rose’s success will likely come down to bringing big-name talent to New York. But, considering where the Knicks currently stand, it’s going to take some time before they can make that sort of move. That said, the Knicks have tons of cap space for the foreseeable future, so there’s hope that the team can potentially make a play for a superstar in 2021.
So, the Knicks could be looking to totally revamp their roster. However, given Rose’s inexperience on this side of the negotiating table, it will likely take some time for the ball to get rolling. But, that’s not to say Rose won’t be capable. Considering his history with a multitude of All-Star clients, Rose could be just what the Knicks need to regain relevance.
